National African American Tobacco Prevention Network (NAATPN)Populations Served:People and communities of African descent Description:The NAATPN was launched after a national stakeholders meeting in Dallas in Decmber 1999; the organization was chartered in late 2000. The organization's national headquarters was recently relocated to Durham, NC, where it provides services to its members and organizations. NAATPN's technical assistance and training services strive to provide community competent organizational development, grassroots organization and tobacco control advocacy expertise necessary to effectively address tobacco challenges in communities of African descent. Mission:To serve as a national organization dedicated to facilitating the development and implementation of comprehensive and community competent tobacco control programs to benefit communities and people of African descent.
