Priority Populations

Priority populations are identified by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as groups that experience significant tobacco-related disparities.  They experience increased targeting by the tobacco industry and tobacco use prevalence rates that vary substantially across populations and subpopulations. These populations are:

• African American
• American Indian/Alaska Native
• Asian American/Pacific Islander 
• Hispanic/Latino 
• Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual Transgender 
• Low Socio-Economic Status
