Collaboration

Collaboration is integral to the national networks' purpose. Working together encourages our partners and allies to acknowledge tobacco-related disparities, to address these disparities in their tobacco control work, and to advance parity in the tobacco control movement.

Collaboration is defined as the act of working together. The principles of collaboration revolve around relationships, respect and reciprocity. With these principles in place, collaborations are commonly formed in tobacco control for three purposes: (1) to identify needs and resources, (2) to coordinate services and strategies, and/or (3) to promote public and political support.

This section of the website features success stories of collaborations that have brought us closer to achieving parity in the tobacco control movement. The types of collaborations highlighted include cross cultural collaborations and state collaborations. Cross cultural collaborations are characterized by the inclusion of diverse communities to address tobacco-related disparities, while state collaborations specifically involve state tobacco control programs and community groups working together to ensure effective policies and programs.

If your organization or state program has a collaboration story, please share how you helped to advance partiy in your state or local community.
